What Resolutions for 2022 Reveal About StarFish Company Culture
You may not be able to tell a book by its cover, but resolutions offer a peek into individual plans and priorities. When combined, they even offer a glimpse of company culture. Our employees share their 2022 resolutions as inspiration and an invitation for kindred spirits to join us in the new year!
Improve:
Develop better tools for project managers to manage resources, tasks, schedules and projects. Design a framework for building and monitoring high performance teams.
Focus more externally and, at the same time, add a couple of critical building blocks for the next generation of our company by hiring our first CFO and hopefully a COO.
Make our quality management system more mature and streamline the process by looking in-depth at regulatory requirements for each project, how we address the requirements in our procedures, and asking if we have created any clutter with Band-Aid solutions from project or directive changes.
Make most of my final year at the company before retiring and impart as much as I can while annoying as few people as possible in the process.
Be best at what I do and get promoted to Project Buyer next year!
Build a solid, consistent accounts receivable platform and process that provides the client reliable and complete information while allowing the team to work with less stress.
Be more curious with my customers and determine how we can help them develop a customize solution.
Create a regulatory committee for regulatory strategies. First, question and improve within the committee and then share it with the project team and client. We have applied a similar approach to training and it’s working really well.
Develop better tools for NCR metrics and trending to enable more data driven decisions to add client value.
I was going to say “lose weight” but I suspect that’s not what you’re looking for….. 🙂
Learn and Write
Write at least eight blogs that capture Bio Services areas of expertise.
Mine’s easy because I’m finishing up my Ph.D. and I have to defend it in 2022. So my resolution is to defend my dissertation and finish my Ph.D.
I have a little bit of a resolution of writing a bit more, but whether that turns into a blog is TBD.
I will definitely work on my marketing skills to be of better assistance to the marketing team.
Get more involved in writing books and possibly speaking. And as part of the streamlining of the QMS something I particularly feel I want to work on is improving the readability scores of the SOPs and work instructions that I write.
Read Unlocking Leadership Mindtraps: How to Thrive in Complexity by Jennifer Garvey Berger and What Got You Here Won’t Get You There: How Successful People Become Even More Successful by Marshall Goldsmith, and Mark Reiter. Two great books.
Read 22 books by Dec 31,2022, regular workout and yoga sessions and write blogs regularly.
Toronto
Fill up our Toronto facility. Suddenly we have twice as much footprint, so we have lots more capacity to make use of.
We’re hiring in Toronto, so ramping up some QA teaching to a junior and medical device knowledge among the new hires that are coming in. So we’ll be spreading more medical device and quality knowledge among the new hires that are going to be coming in.
Adapt
We’re talking about returning back to work, so I’m going to re-learn what it’s like to be in the office. That’s not so much a resolution, it’s just an interesting way of embracing the office environment again.
Exercise
Go for a 20 minute walk every morning before work and complete the Juan de Fuca Trail.
My resolution for 2022: Be more intentional about mentoring. As someone with many years of experience in the StarFish ways of doing things, I want to help accelerate the onboarding and growth of new and existing engineers with the mindset of maximizing client value in the work we do.
My New Years Resolution is to work on improving our infrastructure, so that I can support my coworkers and promote their hard work and ingenuity.
I blew through my last year’s resolution, so I’m a bit gun shy. I’m not just going to repeat last year’s resolution because I don’t know if I’m going to make it for a second year.
