StarFish is a product development consultancy focused on medical devices and laboratory test equipment. A number of our devices are complex electro-mechanical systems, requiring our engineers and designers to work closely together in order to develop these systems. Incorporated into our devices is a wide variety of technologies and applications.

Finding the right role at StarFish

We employ physicists, engineering physicists, biochemists, microbiologists, and system engineers. All of whom have demonstrated they can help produce and deliver quality medical devices for our clients.

We hire a range of experience levels: from early career (with real demonstrated evidence of practical achievement) to very senior level professionals. If you are early in your career and you’ve had ample opportunities to fully apply what you learned at university, or you are more senior and you miss the excitement of doing design (and you still feel you have a lot to offer), please get in touch with us.

As a consultancy, our clients expect great things from us. Our teams work together in a highly focused manner to ensure our clients are more than satisfied. Our hiring is highly flexible – we engage full-time employees, contractors (fixed duration and as-needed) and on-call staff.

We hire for a variety of roles and disciplines

Mechanical Engineers.

We are always interested in speaking with mechanical engineers with a proven ability to design and make systems that work and/or understand the mechanical world around them in practical terms. The greater your skill level in SolidWorks, the better.

Electrical Engineers.

Do you have a proven ability to design and make circuits that actually work? We are looking for people who are experienced at soldering and at fixing their mistakes – we all make them. The greater your skill level in Altium, the better.

Firmware Engineers.

We are looking for people who can create structured code that runs and can be maintained by others. The more experience with Cortex M platform, the better.

Software Engineers.

As the FDA says, software is different. If you want to learn how software can make patients safer and better protected (or if you already know), we’d like to hear from you. If you’re interested, we have challenging work designing effective algorithms and processing imaging data. The more of the stack that you can work with, the better.

Industrial Designers.

If you believe that the human factor is vital and that form and function go best together, we agree. The more real, shipped products in your portfolio, the better.

Technical Project Managers.

Our project managers keep our customer satisfaction score high while delivering on budget. They have learned the principles of project management through practice, and may or may not be certified. They also have the technical insight to ensure a good solution for our clients.
