Reporting to the CEO, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to guide the site’s continued evolution—ensuring project excellence, nurturing a thriving culture, and aligning the Irvine team with StarFish Medical’s mission and growth strategy. Salary
Base Salary: USD 185,000 – 231,200
Annual variable compensation: Target of 10-15% of base salary, tied to goal achievement
Additional Compensation: Employees are eligible for a profit-sharing program

What You’ll Do
- Responsible for planning, execution and performance of StarFish Irvine’s core operations in partnership with the CEO and other executives, including establishing priorities and relevant performance and financial metrics
- As a valued member of the StarFish Senior Leadership Team, you will participate in all aspects of company leadership, including representing StarFish at the Irvine office. You will attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings, including preparing reports, and will participate in annual planning meetings
- As the most senior member of the Irvine leadership team, you provide overall organizational and business leadership to the site, with a focus on culture-shaping, establishing priorities, and fostering operational behaviours and habits
- Support the personal and leadership development of your direct reports and the Irvine team in accordance with the quality and cultural philosophies of the company
- Oversee all Irvine operations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and the development and achievement of measurable goals and key performance indicators (KPIs). You will effectively navigate matrix management of various functions, including product development, PMO, finance and quality
- Foster ongoing improvement in performance, learning, and internal processes to establish a sustainable base for future growth
- Ensure a strong quality management system is integrated into all operations and that regulatory requirements are consistently met to reduce risk
- Act as an executive liaison with key clients in California and beyond, fostering long-term relationships and representing StarFish at the highest levels
- In cooperation with our Business Development team, support business development initiatives, including securing new projects in the area, cultivating executive-level client relationships, and enabling regional growth opportunities in alignment with StarFish’s long-term strategy
- Champion and sustain the StarFish culture within the Irvine office, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and high performance
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or related field
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, with 10+ years in senior executive roles, ideally within a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
- Solid understanding of consultative client engagement, preferably in a professional services environment or within a regulated industry, ideally in product (electromechanical systems) development, and even more ideally in medical device development
- Experience in product development is preferable, offering knowledge of engineering and the ability to discuss technical issues
- Proven ability to lead teams of engineers and technical professionals in a complex, client-facing environment
- A balance of corporate and entrepreneurial experiences will be key to success
- Expert in transformation, business process system architecture, implementation, and maintenance, with a strong ability to execute vision
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with solid knowledge and exposure to financial planning, budgeting, and reporting on business drivers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Systems thinker with the ability to balance strategic planning and hands-on execution
- Comfortable with ambiguity and navigating polarities
- Emotionally intelligent and politically astute—able to unify teams, manage ambiguity, and guide organizational transformation with empathy and clarity
- Ability to build growth-focused relationships and address the needs of multiple stakeholders while working together to find common ground
- Comfortable initiating challenging conversations and skilled at resolving conflicts within suitable timeframes
- Ability to balance short-term priorities with long-term performance
