VICTORIA, B.C., April 7, 2016— StarFish Medical announces the company has been chosen as an Innovation company of the year finalist by the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce. StarFish Medical is one of two finalists selected in the innovation category. Held annually in the spring, this award-winning gala event recognizes businesses in the Capital Region that have achieved a standard of excellence in the community through their own abilities, efforts and initiatives.
The Greater Victoria Business Awards recognizes members in 14 different award categories. The Innovation Award honours a business that exemplifies successful innovation; demonstrates vision in the development of new technologies, products and/or services; and demonstrates the ability to take risks. The Innovation category is sponsored by University of Victoria, Peter B. Gustavson School of Business.
Nominees are judged on five categories:
- How does your business exemplify innovation?
- How does your business demonstrate vision in the development of new technologies, products and/or services?
- How does your business demonstrate the ability to take risks?
- How does your business demonstrate a commitment to community?
- Other noteworthy contributions and accomplishments.
- Up to three letters of support may also be submitted for consideration.
About the process
All complete submissions received by the deadline date are forwarded to a judging panel comprised of diverse business leaders from the community. Representatives from a nominated business cannot sit on the judging panel. As a group, the panel will narrow the nominations to two finalists. At this point, a sealed ballot is received from each panel member to determine the winner. The results are not subject to appeal. The Greater Victoria Business Awards event is Thursday, April 21, 2016.
