StarFish Medical receives Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2021 award in the Growth category from Waterstone Human Capital. This national program annually recognizes best-in-class Canadian organizations for having cultures that have helped enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage.
Scott Phillips, founder and CEO of StarFish Medical, has been architecting the StarFish culture for 22 years. “The core of our HR philosophy is to enable employees to do the best work of their lives in the service of client success. Our guiding principles help us make the right decisions as we seek the right wise tradeoffs to achieve those aims.” As part of his commitment to culture, Phillips conducts an interactive Vision and Values session with all new hires during their first month in the company.
The award will be presented on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre as part of the Corporate Culture Summit and Canada’s Most Admired Celebration Event – a day that concludes with an evening of celebration with some of Canada’s preeminent executives and leaders.
Pamela Potts, Director of People and Culture, notes the focus on all employees. “Everyone goes through a leadership program, offered annually that covers coaching, conflict resolution, polarity management, MBTI and EQ.“ Potts notes, “Employees give StarFish a 92% favourability rating on the question ‘I am proud to work for StarFish Medical’ compared to an 85% favourability rating for the Life Sciences industry as a whole.”
“At Waterstone we believe corporate culture drives performance and that it’s your organization’s greatest asset,” says Marty Parker, President and Chief Executive Officer of Waterstone Human Capital and Chair of the Canada’s Most Admired™ program. “Each of the 2021 award recipients puts culture at the centre of everything they do, and demonstrates a commitment to culture as competitive advantage. They set an excellent example of how crafting and sustaining a high performance culture can drive incredible growth and performance.”
