The eleventh annual StarFish Group awards for outstanding contributions to medical device success were presented to Ryan Field, Wes Chamberlain, Alexandra Reid, Sarah Wilson, Shahrzad Hekmat, Vanessa De Sousa, Maria Gonzalez, Vanessa Faria, and Martin Par at Red Carpet-themed holiday celebrations in Victoria (December 2) and Toronto (December 9). The 2023 nominations are submitted by company employees, cite a variety of achievements and outstanding performance for each award. A committee of senior group members review the nominations and select the recipients.
Chris Denny Memorial Award for Innovation
Ryan Field and Wes Chamberlain received the 2023 Chris Denny Memorial Award for Innovation. Chris Denny was a longstanding high innovator in our company who had a huge impact on our success. He passed away a few years back. Each year employees nominate colleagues who have immersed themselves deeply in a technical problem to find a brilliant solution to the design challenge, as-stated, or more deeply.

Keep Calm and Carry On Award
Vanessa Faria and Scott Phillips
Vanessa Faria, Supply Chain Manager, and Maria Gonzalez, QA Specialist, received the Keep Calm and Carry On award. This award honors employees who rises to challenging times with compassion and grace, making employees, customers, and leadership feel more confident, positive, and well looked after.
Reach for the Stars Award
Alexandra Reid (QA/RA Specialist), Sarah Wilson (Sr. Instructional Designer), Shahrzad Hekmat (Tech. Support Specialist), and Vanessa De Sousa (Office Manager) received the Reach for the Stars award for implementing a Learning Management System. The Reach for the Starts award honors an employee whose process, innovation or idea has helped StarFish and/or our clients get better.

Martin Par and Scott Phillips
Martin Par, Mechanical Engineer, received the 2023 Above & Beyond award. The Above and Beyond award is presented to a Toronto team member who has gone beyond their roles and responsibilities to make a StarFish project a success.
