
CAMTEC Annual Symposium 2024: Nick Allan keynote co-chair
CAMTEC Annual Symposium 2024 features Nick Allan, StarFish Medical Bio Services Manager, as a keynote co-chair. The event takes place at the University of Victoria on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Nick’s keynote focusses on building material from unstable building blocks – studies of collagen. The Centre for Advanced Materials and Related Technology (CAMTEC) at the University of Victoria is a research centre committed to interdisciplinary work on advanced materials and technology.
About CAMTEC
The scope of CAMTEC work covers a wide spectrum of research in theoretical and applied areas. With this in mind CAMTEC coordinates related research among the Departments of Chemistry, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, and Mathematics and Statistics. CAMTEC members work in close association with scientists and engineers from the private and public sectors to ensure technological transfer to industry.
CAMTEC’s objectives are to carry out fundamental and applied research in advanced materials, to train technical and academic personnel in these areas, and to disseminate the knowledge gained from the research through scientific publications, conferences, workshops and seminars.
As part of the University of Victoria, CAMTEC serves as a teaching centre involving graduate students in the latest developments and applications of materials research. In each of the participating departments, members are continually developing new graduate courses in advanced materials.
