Presenter Bios:

MD Playbook Discussions RegulatorsGolddy Kaur – President, MedTech Regulatory Strategist Inc.

Golddy Kaur has more than three decades of MedTech experience and held many positions including executive leadership roles. She has experience across general business management, strategy development, commercial functions, operations, engineering, quality, regulatory & clinical research. She possesses a unique blend of Med-Tech industry subject knowledge and business/financial acumen. As part of the executive leadership roles, she coached a diverse group of individuals and personalities. She has a proven track record in consistently delivering business results, bringing innovations globally through research to commercialization stages, developing talent, and building winning teams. She focuses on achieving personal greatness and finding greatness in others to achieve business goals.  Golddy has a Bachelor’s degree with a major in biology and physics from Ranchi University, India. She started her MedTech journey in 1990 at C. R. Bard, Mississauga. She continued her education by attending several professional development programs in Canadian and US Universities including the Executive Development Program at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

 

Shifra Hoch – Regulatory Consultant, StarFish Medical

Shifra is a regulatory affairs consultant with over 12 years of experience in the MedTech field, specialising in navigating the regulatory environment to bring new medical devices to the market in the US, EU, and ROW. Drawing from her experience in both startup companies and established global manufacturers, she offers creative solutions tailored to customer needs, balancing the demands of the fast-paced startup environment with consideration of the long-term effects of early decisions. With her experience in management roles, she provides strategic guidance that aligns with the company’s overarching objectives. Her portfolio encompasses a range of medical devices, from injection devices to orthopedic and dental implant systems. Shifra’s academic background includes a master’s degree in Biomedical Science in Dentistry, providing a solid foundation for her practical experience.

 

Scott Phillips – CEO & Founder, StarFish Medical

Scott holds a degree in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia. Prior to starting StarFish, he worked in diverse areas such as lithium battery development and manufacturing, UV spectroscopy instrumentation and hi-fi audio speakers. Under his leadership StarFish has grown into a diverse professional organization with clients around the world and 100% focus on medical devices. Scott is a past Chair and current member of the LifeSciences British Columbia board, member of the 2022 VIATEC Board of Directors, Fellow of The Canadian Academy of Engineering, winner of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year2017 Pacific Awards Technology category, 2017 recipient of the VIATEC Technology Champion award, and volunteers with Junior Achievement, Entrepreneurs Organization, and University of British Columbia.
