StarFish Senior Electrical Engineer, Aram Radnia, and a team of researchers published an original research article in the journal Physica Medica about Gamma Camera Detector Design. Titled “Development of novel low-cost readout electronics for large field-of-view gamma camera detectors”, the article sheds light on a transformative breakthrough achieved by the team. Their approach introduces a new paradigm in gamma camera detector design, combining analog and digital signals to reduce complexity and cost while maintaining high-quality imaging standards.
The study examined the integration of a large field-of-view gamma detector with 48 square photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) using an advanced readout electronics system. This system reduces 48 analog signals into 14 analog sums of each row and column, streamlining the signal processing workflow and offering enhanced efficiency and affordability.
This groundbreaking research not only presents a significant advancement in gamma camera technology but also holds immense promise for various applications in nuclear medicine imaging. The innovative readout electronics system opens doors to cost-effective solutions that can revolutionize healthcare delivery, enabling more accessible and accurate diagnostic procedures for patients worldwide.
