Lindsay Machan, MD – Co-Founder Angiotech Pharmaceuticals & Ikomed Technologies
Lindsay Machan, MD is an interventional radiologist at the Vancouver Hospital and Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of British Columbia, with associate appointments in the departments of Vascular Surgery and Urology. He mentors young innovators as a Fellow in the Creative Destruction Lab at the Sauder Business School at UBC and Haskayne Business School at the University of Calgary, and as a Founding Board Member of Endeavor Canada.
In 2006 he shared the Manning Innovation Principle Award for the development of the paclitaxel eluting stent. He has cofounded 3 medtech companies, sits on 4 corporate, 2 scientific advisory and 1 charitable board. His current academic research interests include mechanical methods of radiation reduction from fluoroscopy, ballistic embolic particles and novel excipients for local drug delivery. He has created several innovations most of which no one else uses. Besides being fascinated by medical devices, he exhibits exuberant incompetence at golf, hockey, skiing, running, and wine tasting.
Lishan Aklog, MD – Chairman & CEO PAVmed Inc.
Dr. Lishan Aklog is Chairman & CEO of PAVmed (Nasdaq: PAVM), a diversified medical technology company which he co-founded, and its subsidiary Lucid Diagnostics, a cancer prevention company (Nasdaq: LUCD) as well as Executive Chairman of it other subsidiary Veris Health, a cancer care digital health company. He also serves on the board of the leading medtech industry group, AdvaMed, and as an independent public company director. He previously co-founded a medtech holding company which founded four medical device companies and led one of its portfolio companies, which commercialized one of his life-saving inventions, AngioVac®. Dr. Aklog has consulted for leading medtech companies and is an inventor on dozens of patents. Healthcare Technology Report recognized him as a Top Healthcare Technology CEO of 2021 and 2022. Prior to entering the life sciences industry as an entrepreneur and executive, Dr. Aklog had a distinguished career as an innovator in cardiac surgery, serving on the faculty of leading academic medical centers including Harvard Medical School, in professional society leadership positions. and was recognized as an America’s Top Doctor for over a decade. He received his undergraduate degree in Physics, magna cum laude, and MD, cum laude, from Harvard University. He completed his training at Harvard teaching hospitals and leading medical centers in London and Paris. Dr. Aklog, who fled political violence in Ethiopia as a young teenager, has been active in philanthropic organizations, including as a member of the international board of directors of Human Rights Watch.
